EGYPT. Alexandria. Hadrian, 117-138. Drachm (Bronze, 33 mm, 23.44 g, 12 h), RY 2 = 117/8. ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙC ΤΡΑΙANOC ΑΔΡΙΑNOC CЄΒ Laureate bust of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. L B Nilus reclining left, holding cornucopiae in his right hand and reed in his left; below, hippopotamus to right. Dattari (Savio) -. Emmett -. K&G 32.49 var. (differing bust type and with crocodile in place of hippopotamus). RPC III 5025. Extremely rare, just one (much poorer) example noted in RPC. Minor porosity and a few short scratches on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
